Pokémon can also be divided by the “generation” of games in which they were introduced. The first 151 Pokémon, introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue, have Kanto Pokédex numbers, which are the same as the first 151 National Pokédex numbers. Another 100 appeared to expand the list to 251 for the Johto regional Pokédex. The Hoenn regional Pokédex included 67 of these, alongside 135 new species that debuted in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, bringing the total to 386. Finally, the fourth generation combined 81 (for the first time not all) of the 107 new creatures from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl with 70 of the old ones to form the regional Pokédex of Sinnoh, bringing the grand total to 493.
Pokémon may also be listed by their numbers in the “Ranger Browser”, a Pokédex-like device used by the Pokémon Rangers of Fiore, or grouped into “families” of the Pokémon they evolve from and into.
Each Pokémon’s National Pokédex number is provided, along with its English-language and Japanese names, and numbers in other numbering schemes where applicable. Note that Johto numbers were determined by order in the Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal Pokédex, and do not appear in-game. The evolution column lists which species, if any, the Pokémon evolves from, and/or whether it can be hatched from a Pokémon Egg.
